Easter long weekend is a wonderful time to spend with your family, and there’s no better way to bring everyone together than with a beautiful meal. Whether you’re observing the religious holiday or just enjoying the time off, we’ve compiled our favourite recipes for an Easter feast.

Although they’ve been on the shelves at the supermarket before you had a chance to take down the Christmas Tree, sometimes it’s nice to make your own festive treats from scratch (especially if you’ve got a guest with a food sensitivity).

Classic Hot Cross Bun Recipe

This recipe from Australian Domestic Goddess Donna Hay yields 12 perfect, freshly glazed, glossy hot cross buns that will leave your house smelling like a heavenly bakery. Best made the day before as there’s quite a few steps involved that make you appreciate the team at your local Baker’s Delight.

Vegan Hot Cross Bun Recipe

For the vegans in the family (or the lactose intolerant), these vegan hot cross buns have a delicious hint of chocolate to offset the spice - just be sure to use vegan dark chocolate with a high cacao content or carob.

Gluten-Free Hot Cross Bun Recipe

Smeared with fresh homemade raspberry jam, these are a safe bet for every guest to enjoy the spiced-side of Easter.

The entire Easter period is a great excuse to eat more seafood, even though traditionally only Good Friday is the day to fast and avoid meat.

One Pan Salmon with Roast Asparagus

Keep things simple in the kitchen with a one pan roasted salmon and veggies. The roasted tomatoes, basil and balsamic vinegar give a wonderful Italian twist, and the roast potatoes are a nice way to transition into the cooler weather that usually accompanies Easter.


​Add simple, warming sides like a savoury tart or grain salad that double as starters. As a bonus, these can be made the night before a lunch and either warmed up in the oven beforehand or taken out of the fridge to take off the chill - easy!
